Adoption Centres

We house over 400 adoption centres inside Pets at Home stores across the UK, offering rehoming for smaller furry friends including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, gerbils, degus and chinchillas.

If you are looking to adopt a dog, cat or other animal you will need to contact your local rehoming organisations directly. You can use our website directories to search for information.

How to Adopt a pet

If you are looking for the right small pet to add to your family, visit our adoption centres inside Pets at Home stores to meet the small pets in need of a loving forever home. These pets end up there through no fault of their own and so we proudly offer them a safe home and a high profile opportunity to find new owners. Last year alone we directly rehomed over 60,000 pets.

During their time with us we provide safe housing, a warm bed, food and care plus any veterinary treatment needed. We look after the pet until a loving home can be found and never put a healthy pet to sleep. Every adoption rabbit comes with free neutering, health check and vaccination vouchers to help new owners on their way. We ask for a small donation to the charity for every adoption.

If you are interested in giving a pet a loving new home then please visit your local Pets at Home store and speak to our charity champions in store who will be happy to help.

How to Rehome your pet

If for any reason you are no longer able to look after your small pet, please speak to our charity champions in your local Pets at Home and we will do our best to help you. Please call, or visit the store without the pet first to see if there is a space available in a nearby store. We will do everything we can to find them a loving forever home.

If you have a dog or cat to rehome, please contact your local rescue centre in the same way - calling first to see if space is available. We suggest trying more than one, and please bear in mind that most rescues are full and offer a wait list to surrender a pet to a new home.

Speak to your local rescue - we're all here to help!

National Charity Adoption Centres

We also support other National animal welfare charities by providing them with a financial contribution to develop stand-alone rehoming centres in Pets at Home stores.

These centres were developed following concerns that people were not aware of the risks in buying a dog or cat from shops, through classified advertisements or via an irresponsible breeder. By having a regular presence in a store, such as Pets at Home, National animal welfare charities are able to meet thousands of potential new owners and talk to them about responsible ownership and the benefits of rehoming.

Since the first centre was established, we have gone on to build a further 5 adoption and advice centres which can be found in the stores mentioned below:

3 RSPCA Centres - Stockport, Friern Barnett, Newport (Wales)
1 Cats Protection Centre - Newbury
1 Blue Cross Centre - Swindon
