Veterinary Welfare Advisor
Time at the charity
Joined 1st February 2019
Quick summary of your role
The point of contact for stores and surgeries regarding the neutering of our adoption rabbits, processing vet bills for the charity, visiting rescues following grant applications, assisting Pet at Home stores and the rest of the charity team with charity pet welfare related queries
What do you love most about working at Support Adoption For Pets?
Helping pets in need every day! Also, having a wonderful team around me who are as passionate as I am about giving homeless pets a second chance at happiness
What pet do you have at home?
A small ‘chorkiepoo’ dog (Chihuahua x Yorkie x Poodle!) called Ruby, and I’m currently waiting for some Leaf Insect eggs to hatch…
What’s your favourite type of pet?
It’s hard to choose just one! My first pet was a Syrian hamster so they hold a special place in my heart
What is your most memorable rescue experience?
On a recent grant visit the charity we were visiting said how they wouldn’t have been able to stay open without the grant we had given them the previous year, and sincerely thanked us. It was so wonderfully humbling to see how the funds raised really do make such a difference to unwanted pets
What are you most excited for this year at SAFP?
As a registered Veterinary Nurse I’m always wanting to learn more and keep my qualifications relevant. I’m currently studying for my Veterinary Nurse Advanced Practitioner status in Small Mammals which I will complete this year, and am looking forward to being about to use this to best help our Adoption pets nationwide
Where are you most likely to be found in your job?
At my desk assisting with welfare queries with Ruby lying in her bed by my feet, or I’m sometimes out visiting a rescue. Either way with a coffee in hand!
