Animals' Refuge, Support Adoption For Pets

The Animals’ Refuge provides a safe place for all animals in their time of need. We rehome dogs, cats and horses and support good, long-term, healthy relationships between animals and their owners within the community.

"The Animals’ Refuge is delighted to be awarded a Support Adoption for Pets £5,000 Health and Wellbeing grant to help with our Charity’s veterinary bills.

We are the largest independent animal charity in Cumbria, and as such, we help hundreds of animals every year. Our need for funding support is therefore substantial and ongoing. We work closely with the local community, promoting responsible pet ownership and helping both owners and their pets in times of need. Every single animal taken into our care receives a full vet check, and many animals require further treatment. Our trap-neuter-return approach to the feral cat population in our community also requires a high level of veterinary aid.

The charity’s veterinary bill is our most substantial outgoing cost, and is unavoidable. While the practices we use are very reasonable with their rates, vet bills still prove to be a substantial cost to the charity. This grant will go a long way towards helping us ensure that we are able to continue to provide the most appropriate treatment for the animals in our care.

The team at Support Adoption for Pets couldn’t have been more helpful. The grant application process was pleasantly straightforward too, and we are absolutely thrilled with the outcome. The Health and Wellbeing grant really will make a significant difference to us and we are very grateful for the support."
