GSDR funding for kennelling costs

GSDR funding for kennelling costs, Support Adoption For Pets

GSDR exists to provide shelter, support and rescue to German Shepherd Dogs suffering as a result of cruelty, hardship, neglect or homelessness. We foster and rehome hundreds of dogs every year.

GSDR’s kennel bills (our biggest expense) are running at an all-time high. We were facing the worrying likelihood of having to reduce the number of dogs we took on. Thanks to the generous grant from Support Adoption for Pets and to sustained fundraising by volunteers, in 2017 we will be able to continue saving dogs on the same scale as recent years – so it’s been a huge and welcome contribution to our work. None of us want dogs to be in kennels but at least they are safe, fed, warm and dry, whilst we work to find good homes for them.

Unwanted GSD's are found new homes through our placement scheme which carefully matches up rescued shepherds with their potential new owners. Owners are provided with any support and guidance that they may need.  Our goal is to have our own kennels where we can house urgent, sick and difficult dogs until new homes are found for them. Nobody is paid a salary at GSDR. All monies are used to help the dogs.  We have been involved in GSD rescue for many years, we are very experienced with the breed and have built up an excellent reputation for helping these wonderful dogs.

Support Adoption for Pets really does do what it says on the tin! Applying for the grant was made as straightforward as it could be. Their staff continue to be friendly and supportive of our work, which is much appreciated.

Here is Tess, aged 10, whose owner could no longer look after her. The grant has contributed towards her (and other dogs’) kennel costs while we continue to look for her forever home.
