Hope Pastures, Support Adoption For Pets

Hope Pastures rescue, rehabilitate and re-home horses, ponies and donkeys and educate in animal welfare. They're open everyday free of charge and provide a place where people, irrespective of background and ability, can meet these animals.

"In 2014 Hope Pastures applied to Support Adoption For Pets for funds for a horsebox. The sanctuary had grown over the preceding 3 years, dramatically increasing the number of animals rescued and re-homed, so an easily accessible, flexible and, mostly importantly, safe transport (for sometimes traumatised and very ill animals) was becoming essential. Due to the nature of equines (large and unpredictable!) safe horseboxes are expensive and a small charity such as Hope Pastures could never have afforded to buy one ourselves.

We applied to the Support Adoption For Pets team for a grant. The application process was comprehensive but not onerous. The team were very, very helpful and flexible and we found their advice and support really useful. We were awarded a grant which enabled us to purchase a very good horsebox in Q4 2014.

This has already had extensive use - in rescues, transporting ponies to new 'forever homes', attending vets appointments, organising our animals to and from our 'off-site' land and taking ponies out on publicity visits. It has its own diary it's so busy!

We can't thank the team at Support Adoption For Pets enough for this help - it is a 'step change' for the sanctuary."
